Undetectable Viral Load

Worried about HIV or transmitting it to your partner(s)? Studies show that people living with HIV who are on treatment and have an undetectable viral load do not transmit HIV to their sexual partner(s). This is good news for your health and for the sex that you want!

A person’s viral load is the amount of HIV that they have in their body. If someone’s HIV status is undetectable, it means their viral load is so low that most tests can’t measure it. It is then virtually impossible for them to pass it on to others.

Being undetectable doesn’t protect against other STBBIs, so some guys still choose to use condoms. Getting tested regularly is also important for having the sex that you want and being informed about your health.
