Curious about fisting? It can be a fun way to spice up your sex life!
Fisting is when an entire hand is inserted into the rectum or frontal hole. The name can be deceiving because typically the hand does not go in as a closed fist. To start out, try inserting the hand in a cone shape, with fingers and thumb straight and gathered together in a point.
It is important to go slowly, have patience and be honest about your limits. If a whole fist seems intimidating, the bottom can also build up to a fist with toys (such as anal kits). Fisting can result in tearing of the tissue – use lots of lube to reduce this risk. See our All about Lube section for more info about what types of lubes work best for fisting.
For easier clean-up and a lower chance of STBBI transmission, you can use a condom or glove over the hand. If gloves aren’t available, make sure the fister’s nails are short and smooth with no sharp edges. Careful of any open cuts or wounds on the fingers or hand as these can also increase the risk of contracting STBBIs. Whether you’re fisting or being fisted, getting tested regularly can help to reduce STBBI transmission.
